Social: Lottery

Date: 18 - 20th December

During all evening events (Wellcome, Opening, GALA) participants will be able to participate in the lottery. Money will be sent to the special RI District 1462 bank account which is dedicated to reduce suicide rate in Lithuania and Rotary International Global Grant project “Suicide prevention initiative development in the municipalities of Lithuania”. Winners of the lottery  will be announced during the GALA.

In May 2017 District together with Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Department of Health Psychology applied to State public health strengthen fund to finance project “Suicide prevention initiative development in the municipalities of Lithuania”. Activities will be held in 8 municipalities. This example led to the Global Grant application, which our District is preparing now.

Global Grand activities:

  1. Develop the local community-based suicide prevention model based on the algorithm of communication and cooperation of the local institutions at the front line of suicide acts, attempts and intentions.
  2. Implementing the model by series of training addressed to the front line institutions (police, healthcare, social care, education, emergency, etc.) and local communities enabling them to act in an effective and coordinated way in suicide related emergency situations as well as have effective prevention tools.
  3. In cooperation with governments of selected municipalities assuring adequate access to psychological help through trained local crisis management groups.
  4. Increase access to psychological help through improvement capacities of   helpline services in all territory of Lithuania.
  5. Carrying out public campaigns raising public awareness of suicide prevention measures during 3 years.
  6. Get expert advice from RAGMHI (Rotarian Action Group on Mental Health Initiatives).
